Now the operating system. Take one with the official image from FriendlyArm.

Step 1: Get the SD-card image

Get the OS image nanopi-neo-ubuntu-core-qte-sd4g-20170204.img.zip at [1].

Step 2: Write the SD-card image

Write the image to the SD-card (4GB min):

sudo dd if=nanopi-neo-ubuntu-core-qte-sd4g-20170204.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1M status=progress

Step 3: Find the IP address

Give an IP address via DHCP and find the given address.

To quickly run a mini DHCP server with Ubuntu, edit the settings of your network adapter and select "Share with other computers" in the IPv4 settings tab. See [2].

Power the Nano Pi, and watch the syslog:

tail -f /var/log/syslog
[...]

Step 4: login over ssh

Connect to the target over ssh:
