Just got the PCB of the front panel...
First experiences with the front panel
The PCB matches the size of the metal cover of the enclosure with a surprising accuracy, and the result looks quite professional. About the PCB itself, most of the footprints are homemade, and one notices immediatly that the USB mechanical mounting holes are wrong, as the metalic ring is missing. Also the clearance around the screw holes could have been increased so as to chamfer them.
Preview of the final look
- ⓐ The front panel is mounted backward to show the internal pin headers (2 x PWR and DATA) for the microcontroller and FPGA boards.
- ⓑ The front panel is mounted in final position with connected USB. The pin headers of A and B ports, SMD LEDs and resistors are still missing.
